Nominal scale
A
describes a variable with categories that do not have a natural order or ranking. (e.g. genotype, gender etc)

Ordinal scale
A
variable order matters but not the differences between values. (e.g. socioeconomic status, educational level)

Interval scales
A
variable where there is order and the differences between 2 values is meaningful. (e.g. temp, pH, scores)

Ratio scaless
A
variables here have all properties of interval scales and also has a clear definition of 0. Can be none of the variable. (e.g. reaction rate, weight, length, temp in kelvin)
