Ordinance
A county or city law.
Statutes
Written laws enacted by legislatures.
Supremacy clause
The provision in Article VI of the Constitution stating that US laws and treaties must be followed even if state and local laws disagree with the constitution and these treaties.
Bills
(1) a draft of a proposed law being considered by legislatures. (2) a written statement of money owned.
Legislative intent
What the lawmakers who passed the law wanted it to mean. I the language of a statute is unclear, judges will often look at the legislative intent it helps them interpret the law.
Public Hearing
Proceedings that are open to the public. During these proceedings, evidence is considered and then a decision is reached based on this evidence.

Treaty
A part between nations; if enacted into by the United States through its executive branch, the pact must be approved by “two-thirds of the senators present”, under article 2, section 2 of the Constitution, to become effective.
Extradition
The legal process in which one country or state ask another to surrender is suspended or convicted criminal.
