What is creativity and what does it involve

A

Creative thought involves generation of original novel and useful ideas. Creative thinking is related to intelligent thinking but differ in the routine problem solving because it’s inventive and includes originality. It’s adaptive in sense that it must be appropriate to situation and problem. Example include art literature and breakthroughs in science and technology.

What is divergent thinking

A

Refers to ability to produce unusual and unconventional thoughts or solutions to problems. It’s characterised by expanding a range of alternative by generating many possible solutions.

What is convergent thinking

A

Describes the thought process that produces conventional or correct answers to problems. By using convergent thinking we attempt to narrow down a list of alternates to reach a single correct answer and relies on existing knowledge and logical solutions.

What is cognitive complexity

A

Refers to ability to think beyond what’s presented to you and use complex thought patterns.

What is a creativity test based on

A

Based on assumption that creative people see unusual connection between concepts which go beyond the obvious everyday connection. They are limited in that it only tests creativity out of context and is hard to predict creative achieve because of other factors like motivation personality and intelligence.
