Curvilinear motion

-Motion that occurs when an object travels along a curved path

Projectile Motion

-the curved path that an object follows when thrown, or otherwise projected near the surface of the earth

Projectile

-Any object launched into the air that is subjected to gravity
-An object dropped from rest
-Object thrown vertically upwards
-Object thrown upwards at an angle
-Follow a curved path called a parabola
-Horizontal velocity for projectiles is constant due to neglected air resistance

Types of Projectiles

-Horizontal projectiles: Initially thrown horizontally
-Angle projectiles: Starts on both X and Y axis

Objects Projected Horizontally

-Initial velocity= final velocity
-Initial Vy= 0m/s (becomes more negative over time)
*No acceleration

Projectile Points of Interest

-Time of flight (time is shared between X and y)
-Maximum heigh: reached when velocity is 0)
-Range: maximum x (horizontal) value traveled
