Chapter 3.1 - 3.2 Flashcards
(9 cards)
Intersecting lines
Intersecting lines are coplanar and have exactly 1 point in common
Oblique lines
Lines are oblique if they intersect and do not form right angles
Skew lines
Two lines are skew if they do not lie in the same plane
Theorem 3.1 – transitivity of parallel lines
If two lines are parallel to the same line, then they are parallel to each other
Theorem 2.1 – property of perpendicular lines
If two coplanar lines are perpendicular to the same line, then they are parallel to each other
Postulate 12
If two distinct lines intersect, then their intersection is exactly 1 point
Postulate 13 – parallel postulate
If there is a line and a point not on the line, then there is exactly one line through the point parallel to the given line
Parallel lines
Two lines are parallel if they are coplanar and do not intersect
Postulate 14 – perpendicular postulate
If there is a line and a point not on the line, then there is exactly one line through the point perpendicular to the given line
