what is positive and negative role sanctioning?
sanctioning is used as a tool to reinforce certain norms through either positive sanctioning (rewards) or by negative sanctioning (shunning)
how to social norms, roles and social scripts work together?
social norms create the appropriate behaviour in social situations which then forms social scripts which are the guidelines to social interaction based on the role(s)
what’s the difference b/t roles and statuses?
- roles are the expected behaviour of someone when they are occupying a specific position
- status is a person’s social position which carries rights and obligations
