What is legislation?
Legislation is any formal written law made by a body legally empowered to make laws.

A lawmaking body

What is a Declaratory act?
Acts that create new laws
What is an amending act?
An act that amends exiting laws
What is an enabling act?
These acts bestow powers on other bodies
What is a consolidation act?
Combine acts togther
What is a rewrite act?
Re-word previous acts to make clearer
What is a codification act?
Puts both common law and statute law in same act
What is a green paper?
A tentative set of proposals for legislation
What is a white paper?
A firm set of proposals for legislation
What is the temporal operation of an act?
The time during which an act operates
What are the applications of an act of parliament?
The entities and tractions the act governs
What are the elements of an act of parliament?
In this order :
- Royal Arms
- Name and Year
- Chapter number (chapter if hole law was a book)
- Table of contents
- Long title
- date of royal assent
- Enacting words
- Short title
