Q

Q.4.8 Parkinsons disease and:

  • -Haloperidol*
  • -Domperidone*
  • -Metoclopramide*
A

Both haloperidol + metoclopramide are dopamine antagonists and can precipitate Parkinsonian symptoms, even in those who do not have Parkinson’s disease. Domperidone, another dopamine antagonist, is safe to use in Parkinson’s disease, as it doesn’t cross the BBB.
