What is a response variable?
Variable that measures the outcome or result of a study
What is an explanatory variable?
A variable that we think explains or causes change in the response variable
What is a confounding?
When two variables are confounded their affects on a response variable cant be distinguished from each other, wither explanatory or lurking
What is a lurking variable?
A variable that has an important effect on the relationship among the variables in a study but it is not one of the explanatory variables
What are the principals of experimental design?
Control, randomize, and use enough subjects
What can go wrong in an experiment?
Lurking variables are uncontrolled, refusal, nonadherence, dropouts, Hawthorne effect
What is confidentiality?
Do not share any of information from study
What is anonymity?
The researcher does not know any of the subjects or any way to know who is who
