Chapter 6 Flashcards
(14 cards)
Cellular level
Cells are basic structural and functional units of organisms
Diffrenation happens during development
Cilliated ephilial cells
Found in bronchus,trachea,bronchioli,phelopian tubes
Sweep out dust, mucus
Sweep egg cell toward uterus in phelopian tube
Contain many mitochondria and cillia
Goblet cell
Found in bronchioli, bronchus and trachea
Provide/produce mucus
Mucus trap bacteria and dust
Root hair cell
Grow along epidermal cells of root
Long extension gives large carface area
Absorm water/miniral ions from soil
Many mitochondria for energy
Spermetezoa
Stored in epididymes
Cause fertilization when fuses with ovum
Has head/middle piece and tail
Many mitochondria in middle piece
Xylem vessel
Transport water/minirals
No end wall-helps flow of water
No cytoplasm/organells-help waterflow
Pits/unlignified areas-help waterflow
Red blood cell
Found in plasma of blood
Smallest cell in body to move through capillaries
Flexible and elasticle to move through capillaries
No nucleus - more space for hemoglobin/oxygen
No mitochondria to prefent oxygen usage
Palsiolemesophill cell
Found bellow upper epidermis
Do photosynthesis
Contain chlorophyll and chloroplasts
Motor nerve
Long vibre(axon)
Myelin sheath speed up transmission of impulse
Swhann cells make up myelin sheath
Organells level
Many diverse molucules called organells
Muscle cells
Made of long fibre cells wich are made of contractile proteins
Contractions result in movement
Diploblastic
Cnidarian organisms are diploblastic
Tissue level of organisms
Less advanced level of organization than triploblastic animals, because they can’t develop organs
Triploblastic
Annelida,chordata,arthrpoda
Are at organell level of organization
More advanced level than diploblastic animals
Coelom in triploblastic animals
Allow animals to become largerand more complex by providing space for organs
Allows body wall/organs to act independently
