Def. of cluttering
A disorder of fluency characterized by rapid but disorderd articulation, posibbly combined with disorganized thought
Stuttering def.
A disorder of fluency charcterized by excessive amounts of dysfluency, tension, struggle, and related behaviors
Associated motor behaviors
Excessive tension, facial grimaces, and movement of hands, feet and other body parts; associated with stuttering
The total number of dysfluencies and their types and the number of words spoken or read are used to calculate?
A percent dysfluency rate
Delayed auditory feedback
Helps reduce stuttering. People who stutter may have and auditory deficit that us somehow compensated by making delayed feedback.
Fluency shaping:
In this approach normal sounding fluency is the goal. Teaching the following specific skills of fluency is treatment target:
- modified airflow
- gentle initiation of sound
- slower rate of speech
- soft contact of articulators
