Chapter 9.2 Flashcards

1
Q

What does the salt bridge do?

A

Provides an electrical connection between the two half-cells in a voltaic cell to complete the circuit, allowing ions to flow into our out of the half-cells to balance out the charges in the half-cells

Q

Why don’t ionic solids conduct electricity when solid?

A

The ions are held tightly in the lattice structure and are therefore not free to move
