Chapter 9.4 Flashcards
Temperature and the Celsius Scale (11 cards)
The general gas law equation?
P1/T1 = P2/T2
In the combine gas law, the temperature must be in?
Kelvin (K)
Temperature conversion between Celsius and Kelvin?
Celsius -> Kelvin, Temp of K = Temp of C +273
Kelvin -> Celsius, Temp of C = Temp of K -273
What is meant by the term + absolute zero temperature?” and what is the temperature for it
The lowest possible temperature and the temperature at which particles has no kinetic energy. It is 0 K (or) 273 C
What is the effect of pressure and temperature of gas
What is velocity?
how fast something is moving in which direction
What is pressure?
the force that gas particles apply per unit area
How do you measure pressure?
by the number of collisions of molecules with the wall of the container
Velocity and no. of collision of the molecules and what ? increases? or decreases?
Velocity and no. of collision of the molecules increases as the temperature increases.
Velocity/ no. of collision of the molecules increases, temp increases.
Is the temperature increases what happened to the volume?
still constant
Temperature and pressure? inversely or directly?
Temp decreases, pressure decreases
