A

Utterson and Enfield are on a walk, Enfield explains how he witnessed a girl be trampled by a man, known as Mr Hyde. He pays compensation to the girl and goes through a door they both have just walked past to get the check.

Chapter 2 - (Search for Mr Hyde)

A

Utterson is worried about the situation and looks at Jekyll’s will, and sees it instructs that all of his money should go to Edward Hyde. At the news of this, Utterson visits Lanyon, however he has never heard that name before. Utterson then warns Jekyll about Hyde however he is not in, and his servants explain that they have been instructed to take orders from Hyde in the absence of Jekyll.

Chapter 3 - (Dr Jekyll was Quite at Ease)

A

Two weeks later, at a dinner party at Jekyll’s, Utterson again expresses his concerns in regard to the will and Mr Hyde, Jekyll tells Utterson he has nothing to worry about, and describes the similarities between Utterson and the attitude of Lanyon towards modern science. He also explains the relationship between himself and Hyde is strange, and asks Utterson as a lawyer, not a friend, to insure the details of his will are carried out.

Chapter 4 - (The Carew Murder Case)

A

Nearly a year later, a man names Danvers Carew is brutally murdered. A maid who witnessed the incident recognized the murderer as My Hyde. On the body, the police find a letter addressed to Utterson. The police call him to look, and he recognizes the murder weapon as half of a cane he gave to Jekyll a few years before. He leads the police to Hyde’s house, however he is not there and hasn’t been seen for a few months.

Chapter 5 - (Incident of the Letter)

A

Utterson goes to Jekyll’s house and finds him severely ill. He asks him whether he knows where My Hyde is or if he has hidden him. Jekyll says he has received a letter from Hyde announcing that he has left. Utterson takes this letter to his head clerk, Guest, who believes to the letter to be Jekyll’s handwriting, and that he had forged the letter pretending to be Hyde.

Chapter 6 - (Remarkable Incident of Dr Lanyon)

A

The police fail to find Hyde, and Jekyll seems happier; doing charity wok and attending church. However, later on, Jekyll isolates himself and refuses to speak to Utterson. He visits Lanyon to discuss the matter, only to find him on his death bed accusing Jekyll of causing it, but he can’t explain why. Utterson the writes to Jekyll and receives a depressing reply. Lanyon dies, and Utterson is given a letter from him, only to be opened when Jekyll dies or disappears.

Chapter 7 - (Incident at the Window)

A

Utterson and Enfield are on a walk, when they come across Jekyll’s house. They see him and ask him to join them on the rest of their walk. He refuses, however agrees to talk to them from his room. He then freezes and looks inhuman before shutting the window. The men depart in silence, shocked by what they just witnessed.

A

Utterson is called by the servants to talk to Jekyll, the door is locked so Utterson breaks it down to find Jekyll has committed suicide, leaving a letter and a new will which leaves everything to Utterson.
