Chapters 10,11,12 Flashcards
(39 cards)
What is social observation learning and the aka?
Aka active model type…this is learning by observing events and their consequences
What is vicarious reinforcement?
If the consequence of the behavior is strengthens the tendency
What is vicarious punished?
If the consequence of the behavior weakens the tendency for it to occur
What is asocial observational learning?
Learning from observed events without a model
What is a imitation?
To behave in a way that resembles a model
What is over imitation?
Tendency to reannact irrelevant acts…….show child how to open box and wave over the box with a stick….the child will most likely wave over the box too even though it had nothing to do with opening the box
What is generalized imitation?
Imitation of nonreinforced behavior…..child can over generalize the s add a rule to make things plural…like tooths instead of teeth
What is a good model ?
Attractive,likable, prestigious
What is bandura doll experiment?
Tested how aggression is taught to children l….showed video of adult punching doll…kids imitated
What is attentional process of social learning theory?
Have to do with individuals directing his attention to relevant aspects of the model behavior and consequences
What is retentional process of social learning?
Representing model behavior in some way typical in words or images
What is motor reproductive social learning theory?
Consist of using symbolic representations stored during retentional process to guide action
What is motivational process in social learning theory?
Evaluating consequences of imitating model behavior
What is the operant learning theory?
Leaning through punishment and reinforcement
What is generalization?
Tendency to respond the same way but from different stimuli
What is stimulus generalization?
Tendency for changes in behavior in one situation spread to others
How did little Albert expletive stimulus generalization?
Little Albert was a baby…he was part of an experiment to show how we can learn to be scared of things….he was shown animals which he liked…then a loud sound was added to at the sight of each animal…the sound scared Albert.. he then became scare of any thing with hair…even jackets and bears
What is discrimination in psychology?
The ability to perceive and respond differently to different stimuli
What is discriminative stimuli
Stimuli used to consistently to gain a specific response….person says pick the color red out of a deck a cards and shows you the card red card as an example that is the discriminative stimulus
What is simultaneous discrimination learning
The stimuli are presented at the same time
What is successive discrimination training?
Learning though repetition
What is matching to sample?
Task to select from more than two alternatives
What is classical conditioning?
Paring stimuli with consequences
What is excitatory gradients?
increased tendency to respond to a stimulus and to other stimuli that resemble it…big peek
