Q

Concentration x equilibrium shifts

A

decreasing conc of reactants = system tries to increase conc of reactant= moves left
increasing conc of reactants = system tries to decrease conc of reactant= moves right
decreasing conc of products = system tries to increase conc of products= moves right
increasing conc of products = system tries to decrease conc of products= moves left

Q

Pressure x equilibrium shifts

A

a decrease of pressure= systems tries to increase the pressure= moves to the side which will have more moles of gas (2+1=3 vs only 1m) so moves left. not right.

Q

Temperature x equilibrium shifts

A

As ChangeH is positive, the forward reaction is endothermic. The change imposed is an increase in temp (just context)= system tries to decrease the temp by moving in the endothermic direction. So system moves forward (as changeH is positive) and observe this cuz of conc of products (context)

Q

Catalyst x equilibrium shifts

A

Catalysts are unchanged by the reaction, in terms of EQ=m there is no shift, but both forward and reverse reactions equally.

Q

Using eq=m principles to decide whether a reaction is endorsed or exo

A

as the temp increases the kc value decreases. decrease kc means more conc of reactants and less conc of products. So, system shifts left as temp increases. If temp increased, system tries to decrease the temp, so moves to the endothermic direction. So, increase in temp resulted in a shift to the left and a move in the end direction. So end is left and forward is exo.
