what is a care order/
courts will give th elocal authority a care order which places them in compulsory care

voluntarily children are placed in care. this can be for short or long term.

what is a residential childrens home
its a short-term care home. not used when children will be there for a long time. it can be used just for a night so the child they’ve taken has a place to sleep.
what is emergancy forster care?
when there only there for a few nights instead of a residential childrens home
what is short break foster care (respite)
when the parents struggle to look after the children due to illness or behaviour
what is short term foster care?
the child will only be ther for a few days toa few months
what is long term foster care?
the child will be there for a few years
mainly young children
what is specialist therapeutic foster care?
for children who have very complex needs or behaviour problems. foster familys are usually experienced to care for them
what is family and friends/kinship foster care?
when aunts/uncles/grandparents temporarly loof after the children
what is adoption?
the legal procedure of when a child legally becomes apart of a new family
how does adoption and foster care differ?
foster crae is temporary
atoption is permanent
