What is anthropomorphism?
Attaching human characteristics to something that is not human.
For example, saying God is like a father.
What does omnipotent mean?
All powerful/unlimited power.
What does omniscient mean?
All knowing/knows everything.
What does omnibenevolent mean?
All loving/all good.
What does omnipresent mean?
All present/God is everywhere.
What does just mean in a theological context?
Fair/against injustice.
What is creator ex nihilo?
God created everything from nothing.
What does eternal mean?
God is everlasting/does not die.
What is the Trinity?
Three persons in the One God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
What is the Son of God?
Title used for Jesus.
What is the Problem of Evil?
If God is all powerful, loving and just, why does he allow evil and suffering to exist?
What is natural evil?
Pain and suffering caused by natural events that are out of human control.
For example, tsunamis.
What is moral evil?
Pain and suffering caused by something a human chooses to do.
For example, murder.
What is ‘The Word’ in a biblical context?
Believed to be a reference to Jesus in the Bible, indicating that Jesus (the son) was present at creation.
What does dominion mean?
Having control/power over something else.
What is stewardship?
A state of managing resources in a responsible way.
What are literalists in Christianity?
Some Christians believe that the Genesis Bible story is literally true/historical fact.
What are liberalists in Christianity?
Some Christians believe that the Genesis Bible story is metaphorical/it holds symbolic truth.
What is sin?
Any action that goes against God’s will and separates us from him.
What is the Original sin?
The first sin committed by Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, which some Christians believe we are all born with.
What is The Fall?
When Adam and Eve fell out of favour with God by committing the first sin.
What is a Saviour in Christianity?
Someone who saves; Christians believe Jesus saves us from sin.
What is salvation?
To be saved from sin.
What does incarnation mean?
In the flesh/God taking on human form.
