Q

Explain two ways in which the belief in hell does not support a Loving God

A
  • Causes people to question the power of God is Love, this is because the idea that there is a place that God has created that purpose is to torture God’s children. The concept of an all loving God, creating such a state does not make sense to most. Some would, believe he should be forgiving.
  • The idea of hell also questions the power of God is love some questions with argue that if God’s love is so powerful than it should be able to overpower evil and ultimately destroy the concept of hell, because hell is still existing causes Christians to question whether it’s authentic

A
  • Sinker, no longer destroy their lives, because Jesus died on the cross to save since of humanity, to reconcile the relationship between God and humans. Because Jesus rose from the dead issues that God has accepted the sacrifice, and is forgiving influences Christians to pray and seek forgiveness.

Another way Christians are influenced by crucifixion is that God understands suffering this is because Jesus was not spared from any pain or suffering influences them to trust in God when they are suffering as they know he will give them strength

The Bible says.” Whatever you did not do for these. You did not do for me” shows are good work, strengthen relationships

  • Pilgrimage is not accessible to everyone as it could be expensive or unreachable. Instead prayer helps develop relationship. Regards on a personal level as it’s communicating with God. This form is a stronger relationship on a personal level.

AGREE
— follows Commandments in the Bible “ blessed are those who hearts are set on pilgrimage” it is a desire from God to go on pilgrimage. Following commands can result in heaven.

  • Helps, understand, gods qualities and attributes. Pilgrimage is an opportunity to recharge spiritual batteries.. on pilgrimage Christians have a chance to read the Bible and learn more about gods qualities so some Christians could therefore argue that it’s the best way to as it is an ultimate holy relationship

A

AGREE
- Have a Faith is not enough, good deeds are required
“ Faith is not accompanied by action is dead”
- Those who do good deeds are rewarded “ reward for what they used to do,” parable of the sheep and the goats criteria

DISAGREE
- atonement, and can only take place if you believe in Jesus
- Atonement can only take place because of Jesus’s sacrifice “ he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, not just our sins sins of the whole world”
-Prayer can help atonement to reconcile with God
-Baptism can remove Original Sin
-Holy communion camera moves in

25
Q

Caring for the Earth is the best way to get to Heaven

A
  • Idea of stewardship of Wales, gods commandments “ guard, and cultivate”

-Is an act of Agapi to preserve for future generations. It is an example of Love Thy Neighbor.

-

-Prayer is the best way as it develops a relationship with God. It’s better to strengthen connection with God and salvation only occurs through Faith. “ the only way to the Lord is threw him.”

  • Caring for the Earth is difficult to achieve one individual could try however, it might not make enough impact
26
Q

The best way to gain salvation is through gods laws

A
  • Obeying God’s laws is the criteria to get to Heaven, for example, the sheep and the goats, and the rich man and Lazarus

-Faith, if not, accompanied by action is dead. Shows that we need to obey his law so we can get to Heaven.

-

-Salvation is gained through gods grace, which is a gift for the faithful “ those who believe in him shall perish and have eternal life”

  • Gods love will help us get to Heaven. Saint Augustine believed we are elected to get into heaven. He has predestined so good deeds can’t change this
27
Q

Bible tells Christians, all they need to know about creation

A
  • The Bible is the word of God say fundamental Christians, believe that it is exactly how God says. For example, the creation story in Genesis which explains order of creation, which shows that that is everything they need to know.
  • Gives Christians, a sense of purpose in touristic, volume gods, benevolence and power signifies God is omnipotent as he created the way out of ehilo.
  • PALY, watchmaker analogy indicates that God is knowledge to understand the complexity of gods creation. It is too complex without the belief of a designer.

DISAGREE
Liberals believe that it does not take into account the scientific evidence they see it as more of a metaphor to explain how God made the Earth “ let there be light” could be a reference to the Big Bang

Spectating nature might help to appreciate nature and closely examined gods occasions and understand it. Looking at the worlds in awe and wonder

28
Q

God, cannot be all loving people suffer

A

If God is omnipotent, he should have known by creating the world. It would have introduced suffering to the Wales, so if he was all loving, he would not have created the world.

God is all powerful “ nothing is impossible with God” if he was loving, he would use his power to remove it

Disagree

  • The story of Job
“ behold God is mighty, and he does not despise any he is mighty, in strength and understanding”
Jacob was testers of his faith. However, he put his faith in God, and he became stronger.

-Suffering is the miss use of freewheel of other humans. “ sin is caused by many things particularly the mind” moral evil

29

A

Love thy neighbour

31
Q

Explain to Christian teachings about atonement

A

Jesus died on the cross to save our sins
Atonement can only be achieved with a belief in jesus.

Atonement is removing the effects on sin so christians are able to adhieve heaven

32
Q

Creation was so long ago, it doesn’t matter what actually happened

A

DISAGREE
- creation story tells us that God made the Earth. “ God created the heavens and earth “ It is an important duty for Christians to be stewards of the Earth. So the creation story tells questions about its value which encourages them to be Stuarts.

-Although there may be no evidence to back up creation, it does not make it less important. This is because liberal Christians believe it is a metaphor for explains why God made the Earth and gives people purpose. Creation tells questions about gods love, which is the most important belief in Christianity so it is still important and does matter.

AGREE
-There is no scientific evidence to back up the story of creation. The leading theory of the creation of the Earth is the big bang so some Christians will focus on that because that has evidence should therefore because it was so long ago and has no scientific evidence. Whatever it says in the Bible doesn’t matter because there is no evidence.

  • since creation, there have been lots of events, but in some peoples eyes could supersede the creation story. They would think that it doesn’t actually matter what happens because there are other events in history that I was that God loves us. For example, when he sent his son down on Earth for God so loved the world, he gave us one of her we sold.
33
Q

It is impossible not to sin

A

AGREE
- The story of Adam and Eve in the Bible when it says “ he has became one of us, knowing both evil and good”. Humans are all born with a built-in tendency to scene due to Original Sin therefore it is impossible to not sin.

-God gave humans free will. “ sin is caused by many things particularly the mind”. Free will mean that humans have the capability of doing sin, even if it was by accident, so it is impossible to sin, because we have free will

Disagree
- If humans get baptised, they are removing Original Sin and the effects from it, so they are no longer destroyed and restricted by the built-in tendency to do bad. So therefore it is not impossible to not saying because some people are able to remove the built-in tendency to do bad

  • God gave the Bible with the 10 Commandments. If a person follows these commandments and does not break any rules, then it is not impossible not to sin, because they are living faithfully in the eyes of God.
34
Q

Stories of incarnation, prove that Jesus was the son of god

A

AGREE
-The Bible says “ the word became flesh” This proves that Jesus is the son of God, because the Bible particular says that he is God in concert.

-The stories of incarnation prove that Jesus was the son of God, because in the Bible, it says “ Mary became impregnated by the Holy Spirit”. This proves that Jesus is the son of God because the Holy Spirit, which is cars enabled her to get pregnant.

DISAGREE

-Some Christians could question the reality of this because it is not scientifically proven that this is possible. David argue that the stories of incarnation do not prove Jesus was the son of God, because it is not scientifically possible and beyond human understanding.

-incarnation do not prove that Jesus was the son of God, but resurrection and Ascension does. This is because it is only when Jesus ascended into heaven is full proof that he is the son of God. Because Jesus was not spared any pain of his resurrection. Some people could question the reality of him, being the son of God, as God is all powerful, so

35
Q

the churches should focus on the worship of God rather than helping the community

A

DISAGREE
- helping the community helps their relationship With God. “ truly, what you did not do for one of these people you did not do for me.” Shows that helping other people as well as waste bin. God help say relationship strengthen.

-Christians do not help the community. They are not carrying out the act.” Love Thy Neighbor.” so Christians are not following the 10 Commandments, and, although they might think that worshipping God has benefits of achieving heaven,, these benefit will not come if they do not follow commandments.

AGREE
- wish God is the ultimate way to strengthen the relationship with God. Christians believe that I need to strengthen the relationship with God in order to get a place in heaven. Get to Heaven is Christians mean goal, sure, they would prioritise, worshipping God, rather than helping the community as it helps them, get to Heaven.

  • Helping the community is not always possible. Particularly for Christians who are struggling themselves ways of helping the community such as giving money and food is not possible for all as some people need that aid themselves. So these Christians will focus on worshipping God to help their own needs.
36
Q

Reconciliation to God is more important than reconciliation to other people

A

DISAGREE
- christians believe that reconciliation to other people is important, because Jesus placed emphasis on this. Jesus taught to forgive 70×7 times. So Christians believe this is important as it is carrying a commando by Jesus.

  • we are only able to live at peace with God if we live at peace with others, so therefore reconciliation to God is not more important because they are equally important because they are both inextricably linked.

AGREE
- Reconciliations accord means are Christians can get to Heaven. This is a Christians main goal today for will be seen as most important because without reconciliation, they cannot be rewarded in the afterlife..

-

37
Q

crucifixion is more important than the resurection

A

FOR
-The execution of Jesus on the cross by pontius pilate
shows he was fully God and fully human
gives Christians confidence as they accept jeuss sacrifice
Sin can no longer destroy lives as God forgives those who ask
AGAINST
-Shows the power of good over evil
humans can be resurrected, no fear in death
assured Christians thta god will forgive their sins if they follow tecahings, will become close to God
ascension shows that jesus is with God
paves way for holy spirit ad provides comfort and guidance
without resurection no christians faith as it shows that jesus was godly

38
Q

Judegemnt influences

A

The first way in which belief in judgement influences Christians today to behave well. Christians know that God will judge them whether they will go to hell or heaven. Christians will follow 10 commandments, e.g. they will honour their father and mother, they won’t commit adultery, they won’t murder, etc.

The second way in which belief in judgement influences Christians today to trust God. Christians think despite lots of unfairness which happens in the world, after people die, they will be judged by God fairly because they believe God is just and there won’t be any unfairness on Judgement Day.

39
Q

Agterlife influences

A

The first way in which belief in afterlife influences Christians today is not to fear the death. They may believe that death is not the end. They know they are going to heaven which is a good place to go and will live with God without pain.

The second way in which belief in the afterlife influences Christians today is not to donate their organs after they die. They believe that God will bring them to resurrection, and therefore they want to have their full body during resurrection. Therefore, Christians won’t donate their organs after they die

40
Q

Explain two ways in which learning about the ascension might influence Christians today

A

They will pray and go to church to demonstrate faith in God as they believe that is what gets you into heaven.
They will also act morally and “love thy neighbour” as they believe that is also what they are judged on before they can enter heaven.
It shows that Jesus is with God in heaven and paves the way for the holy spirit to provide comfort and guidance.

41
Q

Explain two different Christian beliefs about stories in the Bible.

A

Liberal Christians - They believe that the bible (EG: Story of Creation in Genesis), is not scientifically accurate, but contains religious truth.
Fundamentallist Christians - They beleieve that everything that was said in the bible happened literally eg: World made in 6 days.

42
Q

Explain two ways in which learning about Grace might influence Christians today.

A

Christians believe that the holy spirit gives them grace and guides them in their daily lives, helping them achieve salvation. This will make them panic less as it will become easier for them to achieve salvation.

Christians beleive that if they show Grace they can get into heaven. Christians beleive that salvation is freeley given by God through faith in Jesus. Therefore they will go to church to show their grace to God.

43
Q

Explain two Christian teachings about the crucifixion. Refer

A

Christians believe that Jesus’ sacrifice through crucifixion gives hope to christians that their sins will be forgiven.
They beleive that Jesus suffered pain and horror on the cross as he was also fully human. “Into your hand, I commit my spirit.” - Luke. Therefore God undersntans Christians’ suffering.

44
Q

Explain two reasons why teachers help those who are persecuted

A

Jesus set an example of helping anyone in need, for example, the man who was suffering of leprosy. Christians follow Jesus example, and will also help those in need so therefore they will help those who are persecuted.

“ blessed, are those who insult you persecute you.. be glad because greatest show me ward and Helen”
Is the duty for Christians to help those who are persecuted as it is the most loving thing to do. It is a duty commanded by jesus.
