What is CTE

A

Progressive degenerative and fatal brain disease associated with repeated blows to the head over a long period. This disease is characterised by cognitive, motor and affective (emotional) dysfunction

What causes CTE

A

A forceful blow or repetitive blows to the head, your head suddenly moves rapidly back and forth in a whiplash-like fashion. brain bounces of skull, damaging cells.

CTE diagnoses (2 points)

A

As many of the symptoms of CTE are similar to that of Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s disease, diagnosis is difficult.

CTE currently can only be definitively diagnosed if it was fatal for a person.

CTE treatment (3 points)

A

Currently the is no known cure for CTE.

Supportive treatments are usually what is used for those with CTE.

Behaviour therapy, regular exercise and good nutrition help prevent the onset of CTE symptoms
