Sphere of application( article 1)
The CISG applies to contracts for the sale of goods between parties in different countries that are members of the Convention. like germany and norway.
Article 2, what does CISG DOESNT APPLY TO?
- bought for personal use, family of household use.
-auction
-stocks,shares,investements…
-ships, vessels, aircraft
-electricity…
Article 2 applies when?
When the goods were bought with no idea they were for personal use.
When is CISG applicable?
goods being sold to international companies.
What does article 3 talks about?
- Contracts that are mostly about services (not goods) are not covered.

CISG doesnt apply for injuries or death caused by the goods to a person.

Parties can exclude or modify the CISG’s rules in their contract. example the time u have to check on the goods like apples, iphones…
Article 7, Autonomous interpretation
Interpretation of the CISG should promote uniformity and good faith in international trade.
Article 8, how to interpret contracts and how to interpret statements of the parties?
- the statement made by the party are to be interprered according to their intention.
A party’s statements and conduct should be interpreted by what they meant or what the other party reasonably understood.
