How does this act promote health,safety and security?
-helps emergency services know what they are meant to do and the levels to deal with it.
-Risk assessments to highlight potential hazards and problems and will lower the risk of injury.
Why was this act made?
Designed as framework for emergency planning and response ranging from local to national level.
Main principles of the civil contingencies act
-requires a risk assessments are undertaken and emergency plans are put in place.
-organisations work together- emergency services, local authorities and health bodies work together and share information.
What consists of a civil emergency?
-emergency that threatens serious damage to human welfare, the environment or security has occurred, or about to occur.
Purpose of part 1 of the act:
Establishes a clear set of roles and responsibilities for local responders.
Purpose for part 2 of the act:
Establishes a threshold that events or situations would need to meet to constitute as ‘an emergency’ and thus to trigger the duties in part 1 act.
Who are category 1 responders:
Police, fire burguade, nurse, doctors (emergency services, local authorities)
Who are category 2 organisations?
‘Co-operating bodies’ who are likely to be involved in the heart of planning work.
-involved in incidents that effect their sectors.
