Venial sin
3 Conditions for mortal sin
- Must involve grave matter. The act itself must be intrinsically serious, such as murder, adultery, or theft.
- Be committed with full knowledge. The individual must be aware that the act is sinful and contrary to God’s law.
- Be done with deliberate consent. The person must freely choose to commit the act, without coercion or significant external pressure

Nature if Venial Sin
Nature of Venial sin can occur in 2 scenarios
- The matter involved is less serious.
- The act, even if grave, is committed without full knowledge or complete consent.
Consequence of mortal sin
Eternal Punishment - Mortal sin, if unrepented, leads to eternal separation from God, which is the essence of hell.
- Loss of Sanctifying Grace - The individual loses the divine life within them, which is essential for salvation.
Consequence of Venial sin
-Temporal Punishment - Venial sins incur a lesser punishment that can be expiated through earthly suffering, acts of penance, or purification in purgatory.
- Weakening of Charity - can lead to a disposition towards committing mortal sins if left unaddressed.
