What is a cofactor?
A non protein compound that some enzymes need to be present in order to work
What are coenzymes?
Small organic molecules which bind temporarily to the active site along with the substrate. They take part in the reaction and are altered.
What is a prosthetic group?
Non protein molecules permanently bound to the enzyme. Without the group the enzyme cannit function.
What is an example of an enzyme that needs a prosthetic group?
Amylase with the prosthetic group Cl-
