Cognitive-Perceptual Evaluation (Chapter 13) Flashcards
(9 cards)
Behavioral Inattention Test
utilized with adults presenting with unilateral neglect
examines the presence of neglect and its impact on functional task performance
9 activity based subtests and 6 paper/pen subtests
p. 359
Catherine Bergego Scale
standardized checklist to detect presence and degree of unilateral neglect during observation of everyday life situations
scale also measures self-awareness of behavioral neglect
functional scale
10 items related to neglect in everyday life (dressing, washing, eating etc.)
Cognistat Neurobehavioral Cognitive Status Examination
explores, quantifies, and describes performance in central areas of brain-behavior relations
including: level of consciousness, orientation, attention, language, constructional ability, memory, calculations, and reasoning
Executive Function Performance Test (EFPT)
assesses executive function deficits during the performance of real-world tasks
tasks include cooking oatmeal, making a phone call, managing meds, and paying a bill
structured cueing and scoring system
assess initiation, organization, safety, and task completion
Lowenstein Occupational Therapy Cognitive Assessment (LOTCA)
utilized for persons who have experienced a stroke, TBI, or tumor
measures basic cognitive functions that are prerequisite for managing everyday tasks
20 subtests: 5 areas: orientation, visual, spatial perceptions, visual motor organization, and thinking operations
abilities scored from 1-low ability to 4- high ability
Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) or Folstein Test
brief 30 point questionnaire
screen for cognitive impairment
commonly used to screen for dementia
Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MOCA)
screening instrument for mild cognitive dysfunction
assesses 8 different cognitive domains
26 or above considered normal
verbal and quick paper pencil tasks
Rivermead Behavioral Memory Test
standardized
utilized for persons with memory dysfunction
initial eval of individual’s memory function
indicates appropriate treatment areas and monitors memory skills throughout rehab
11 categories and 9 subtests (each test has series of items the person is required to memorize and recall later)
scoring: 0-9 severely impaired memory
10-16 moderately impaired memory
17-21 poor memory
22-24 normal
Rivermead Perceptual Assessment Battery
16 years or older who are experiencing visual-perceptual deficits after head injury or stroke
16 performance tests
scoring based on accuracy and time taken to complete tasks
