The Taiga - evergreen forest
-Branches slope down to allow snow to fall off
- thick bark holds moisture
- roots spread to gather as much moisture as possible
- shallow roots as a result of permafrost
- needles prevent moisture loss

Wildlife

Mink, bear, wolf, eagle
- hibernate in cold months
- fur acts as insulator
- some have hooves that act as snow shoes
- birds migrate to south

Very few people
•Sami people
- 50,000+ in Lapland
- Europe's last tribe
- past were herders, lifestyle based on migration of reindeer
-Now, many work in forestry
