A

american U-2 plane flies over cuba and sees missile sites were being built (counteract usa sites in turkey and greece)
kennedy created a naval blockade (quarantine) around cuba to intercept all USSR shipments
kruschev wrote a letter to kennedy about his act of aggression
Kruschev has said he would withdraw missiles in cuba as long as the usa promised not to invade cuba and to withdraw its missiles from greece and turkey

the prague spring and czechoslovakia

A

the prague spring was reforms made by Dubcek (the leader of czechoslovakia)
these reforms consisted of political democracy, personal freedom, trade unions (against communist ideals)
Dubcek had promised not to leave the warsaw pact
Brezhnev was not happy so warsaw pact troops were sent into czechoslovakia to reassert the authhority of moscow, 500,000 troops ended the prague spring
dubcek replaced with a loyal to moscow
