When was the Tehran conference
The Tehran conference was between November to December 1943
What was agreed at the Tehran conference
At the Tehran conference
- The US and Britian agreed to open up a second front on the Nazis in europe
- The soviet union agreed to declare war on Japan once Germany had been defeated
- it was agreed An international body would be set up to settle future disputes between countries -This paved the way for the creation of the United Nations
- Tensions started to arise as stalin thought that the US and Britian were deliberatly delaying opening a second front
When was the Yalta conference
The Yalta conference was in February 1945
What was agreed at the Yalta conference
- It was agreed ,when defeated , Germany would be reduced in size, divided , demilitarised and forced to pay reparations
- It was also agreed that europe would be rebuilt along the lines of the atlantic charter and all countries would have demrocratic elections
- The UN was to be set up
- It was agreed Poland would be in the soviet sphere of influence but be run on a broader demrocatic basis
- Tensions started to arise as stalin thought that the US and Britian were deliberatly delaying opening a second front
- Poland would be moved westwards -It would gain land from Germany and lose land to the soviet union

What was agreed at the Potsdam conference
At the Potsdam conference :
- It was agreed the Nazi party would be banned and war criminals prosecuted
- It was agreed a council of foriegn ministers would be set up to organise the rebuilding of europe
- It was agreed that Germany would be reduced in size and split into four zones of occupation : run by : France , britian , US and Soviets
- Berlin would also be divided into four zones
- The soviets would recieve 25% of the output of the other three zones

-There was increasing tensions between the wartime allies. Differences had began to emerge over ideas of the future for Germany and East europe. Moreover, After Roosevelts death Truman replaced him as president and he was more distrusting of the soviet union
