IBS
-Infx/Inflam of diverticula -Abd pain/fever -N/V -LLQ tenderness/mass
Diverticulitis
-Transmural process -Chronic with periods of remission and exacerbation -Liquid stool, malaise, RLQ pain, low-grade fever -Symptomatic tx. STeroids, immunodulator drugs
Crohn
-Sudden dilation of colon and sepsis -Abd distention with tenderness -Fever
Toxic Megacolon
-Small bulging pouches in GI tract (diverticula) -Most asymptomatic -Nonspecific symptoms -Barium enema & CT -High fiber diet
Diverticulosis
-1000s of polyps -Will for sure develop CA -Requies colectomy
Polyposis
-2nd leading cause of CA death -Adenocarcinomas -Often asymptomatic until too late
Colorectal CA
-Inflammatory condition resulting in erosions with bleeding.–>occurs in colon only (rectum almost always involved) -Idiopathic/autoimmune -Bloody diarrhea, cramping and tenesmus -Can see oral ulcers, erythema nodosum -Steroids
