Q

How do you test for the products of complete combustion?

A

You burn the hydrocarbon making the gas go in a tube, water condenses in a U-tube where it will find anhydrous copper sulfate which will go from white to blue in presence of water, the carbon dioxide (not condensed in the U-tube) will go another little tube found on the other side of the U-tube which will go in atest tube with lime water inside, the lime water goes from colourless, to cloudy, white or milky in the presence of CO2
