-Provides a permanent record
-More structured and consistent
-Viewed at convenient time
-Better to write down if there’s many points
What are the disadvantages of written communication
-can take longer to prepare
-inflexible (no immediate feedback)
-can’t use non-verbal cues (body language)
What are the benefits of electronic communication
-created and sent quickly at low cost
-wide audience can be reached
-large volume of information can be provided and updated regularly at a low cost
What are the disadvantages of electronic communication
-only used if recipients have correct technology
-may be missed due to large volume of mail
-may be considered impersonal and treated as spam

-clearly transmitted, received and understood
-achieve the aim the organisation intended
-achieve at reasonable cost (time and money)
-receive positive feedback, if necessary

-helps motivate employees (feel part of team)
-decision making is easier (accurate info)
