Q

how do platelets clot blood

A

broken blood vessel releases chemicals that attracts platelets to injury site. platelets rupture releasing chemicals to produce thromboplastin. if calcium is present, thromoplastin+prothrombin=thrombin. thrombin+fibrinogen=fibrin. fibrin forms a mesh over injury site that prevents blood loss and solidifies to form a clot
