A

A

The core of foundation of the words meaning.

Ex- Root word of the word abnormal is “norm” meaning “rule or order”

Combining Vowel

A
A vowel (most commonly O) added to the end of the root that doesn’t change the meaning. Placed between two roots, or a root or suffix, that makes it easier to pronounce. 
Ex - Ovari and Hysterectomy jointed together with an “O” becomes “Ovariohysterectomy”

A

A unit of meaning attached to the end of a word.

Ex - “-AL” is the suffix to normal meaning “pertaining to”
