What is a chemical element?
A chemical substance whose atoms all have the same number of protons, and cannot be broken down into any other substance.
Define a compound.
Material formed by chemically bonding two or more chemical elements.
What is an ionic bond?
Chemical connection in which one atom loses valence electrons and gains them from another, between a cation and anion.
What is an ionic compound?
A compound that is formed by ionic bonding.
