What is Lossy Compression?
A
Lossy compression is where you delete some of the data in order to make the file use less space. But cannot be restored to the original form after decompression.
MP3 and JPEG are compressed using lossy since it deletes some colours or sounds we cant detect, so no difference in quality.

- Images, video, audio

Used in:

Lossless compression is where you remove unnecessary metadata to reduce file size. Can be restored in its original form.
