rapid onset of confusion caused by alcohol withdrawal

after 2 days of abstinence

why does korsakoff syndrome occur?
hypothalamic damage and cerebral atrophy due to thiamine deficiency
features of korsakoff syndrome?
loss of anterograde memory
lack of insight
