Q

Infrared touch screen?

A

IR emitters send out infrared light which is received by the other side of the screen by a IR receiver. If screen is touched, light is scattered and the receiver records less intense light. Maths equations locate the touch.

Q

Resistive touch screen?

A

Coated with a thin metallic electrically conductive and resistive layer that causes a change in the electrical current which is registered as a touch event and sent to the controller for processing.

Q

Capacitive touch screen?

A

Capacitive screens are made up of layers of glass and plastic, coated with a conductor material like copper. When you touch your screen, an electric circuit is completed at the point where your finger makes contact, changing the electrical charge at this location.

Q

modem purpose

A

modem, is a hardware device that converts data from a digital format, intended for communication directly between devices with specialized wiring, into one suitable for a transmission medium such as telephone lines or radio.

Q

network interface card purpose

A

NIC allows both wired and wireless communications. NIC allows communications between computers connected via local area network (LAN) as well as communications over large-scale network through Internet Protocol (IP).

Q

terminal adapter purpose

A

A terminal adapter (TA) is a device that connects a computer to an integrated services digital network (ISDN). The terminal adapter transmits digital data directly from the computer to the ISDN line without having to modulate and demodulate between digital signals.

16
Q

modem disadvantages

A
  • internet speed can slow down if many people are using it
  • connections aren’t available in all religions
  • to use a modem you need to pay highly every month
17
Q

network interface card advantages

A
  • provides a fast connection to the internet
  • provide a reliable connection to the Internet that
should not vary in performance or availability
  • allows us to share bulk data among many users
18
Q

network interface card disadvantages

A
  • security is minimal low
  • the information is unstable
  • the design should be legitimate for better
    correspondence
19
Q

terminal adapter advantages

A
  • there are no wires so less mess
  • you can connect multiple devices at once
  • they allow computer users to troubleshoot network issues easily
20
Q

terminal adapter disadvantages

A
  • very expensive

* require special digital services

21
Q

wireless router advantages

A
  • users are able to share files with others
  • no cables are needed so save time and cost
  • if a cafe has a wireless router it will attract more
    customers
22
Q

wireless router disadvantages

A
  • can be obstructed by everyday objects at home
  • its much slower than a wired one
  • have an increased chance of jamming and interference due to external factors
23
Q

wireless network cards advantages

A
  • very easy to operate and change
  • great security
  • so much cheaper than wired
24
Q

wireless network cards disadvantages

A
  • increased chance of jamming
  • more open to interference
  • transmission speed is comparably less
25
hub advantages
* hubs are really inexpensive * they have less number of performance impacts on the network. This is often because it operates using a broadcast model which rarely affects the network * can connect to different types of media at once
26
hub disadvantage
* hubs cannot support networks that are large like token rings * hubs can't communicate in full duplex mode only in half - duplex mode. ( half duplex means that data can only be transmitted at once , so hubs need to constantly switch modes )
