Code
Instructions you give to characters to tell them what to do
Like telling Kodu when to move or jump.
Program
A set of codes that runs your game
It’s like a recipe for what happens in your world.
Bot
A robot or character that can follow your code
Kodu is a bot!
Object
Anything you put in your game world
Trees, apples, rocks, or bots are all objects.
Title
The name of your game
Give your game a fun title so others know what it is!
Start
When your game begins
Clicking ‘start’ makes your world come to life!
When
A word that means something should happen at a certain time or event
‘When I press A, Kodu moves.’
Do
The action that happens after the ‘when’
‘Do move forward.’
Path
A trail or road for bots to follow
You can draw a path for a bot to walk on.
Move
To go from one place to another
Kodu can move forward, backward, or turn.
Eat
A command to make bots pick up or ‘eat’ something
Kodu can eat apples to earn points.
Bump
When two objects touch or crash into each other
Kodu can bump into a tree or another bot.
Jump
To go up into the air and land again
Make Kodu jump over a rock!
Goal
What you want to happen to win the game
Like eating all the apples or reaching a flag.
Win
When you complete the goal and beat the game
You might see fireworks or a ‘You Win!’ message.
Lose
When the goal isn’t reached or something goes wrong
Kodu might lose if he touches lava or runs out of time.
Score
The number of points you get in a game
Eating apples or winning gives you a higher score.
