Hemiplegia

Hemiparesis
Half of your body is weak
Contralateral to lesion
Affects written language
Hyperreflexia (the reflex is overactive)
Extrapyramidal impulses of reflex regulation unable to reach the brainstem and spinal cord
Damage to the motor areas of the brain that produces apraxia of speech
Dysarthria
A lesion at or near motor areas of the left frontal love that produces apraxia of speech is also likely to damage or in isolation
Buccofacial apraxia/Ideomotor apraxia
Other apraxias such as these can occur alongside apraxia of speech or in isolation
Nonfluent aphasia
apraxia of speech is a result of lesion at or near Broca’s area and there may be language deficits
