What are the House Committees?
Agriculture, Science, Government reform, Small business, and International relations are all House Committees.
What is Consensus?
The agreement among the majority of congress members regarding the outcome of given issue.
Mine: agreement of a given issue among the majority of congress members.
What is tax?
A charge levied on people/property by the government to meet public needs.
Mine: Money that citizens pay every year to the government.
What is a Rider?
A provision that cannot pass on its own merit so it is added to a bill which is guaranteed to pass.
Mine: A provision that is add to a bill which it can pass.
What is Bankruptcy?
The legal proceeding in which an individuals assets are divided up among those to whom an outstanding debt is owed.
Mine: The legal act of taking a person’s money, house and car to pay what they owe.
What are the four limits on Congress’s taxing power?
No Public benefit tax, No Direct taxes un states, No Indirect taxes rate, No export tax.
Mine: No tax on public benefit, direct taxed on states, indirect taxes rate and export tax.
What 4 options does standing committees have when they receive a bill?
Report approval, ignore it, amend it, report disapproval.
Mine:
- Report approval the bill
- Ignore the bill
- Change the bill
- Reject bill
What are constituencies?
People and interests senators represent.
senators representative of the people and interests (public groups)
Can immigrants become naturalized citizens?
Yes they can.
What four limits does the Constitution give on Congress’s commerce power?
Export tax, port favorites, Entry Tax, Slave Trade.
Congress’s limited powers are NO: export tax, no unfair trading, no entry tax, no slave trade.
What is the TERM when someone is found “Not guilty” in court?
Acquitted
Congress may conduct investigations for 5 reasons:
- To gather relevant informations in the legislation-making process.

What is Oversight Function?
Congress’s ability to use its committees to ensure the executive branch is functioning properly
“Congress making sure that executive branch is functioning properly. (doing its job)
What is the Continuous Body?
The senate never goes up for election all at once. This makes them a Continuous Body.
“The senate member is only elected small amount at once, never changing the entire senate in one time.
What is trustees?
issues must be faced and decided on based on their merit.
” the problems must be based and decided based on the case’s positives and negatives.
What is delegates?
Influenced by what they believe “those” “back home” would vote.
“a person who will represent others, in particular someone who has been elected. (Senate, president who represent the country etc. )
What is Partisans?
Owes first allegiance to their political party

What is politicos?
Combines the elements of the other three methods to guide their decision.

To impeach means?
to accuse or bing charges against
What is Bill?
Proposed law presented to the House or Senate for consideration.
What is Joint Committee?
Group composed of both members of the house of Congress.
” Group of people who have members combined from the house of Congress.
What options does the president have after a law or bill passes through Congress?
Sign it, Veto it, Pocket veto, Pass by default.

What is Senate Committees?
Armed services, Indian affairs, Public works, Banking and housing are all Senate Committee.
