Q

One reason why some people objected to war was because of their own experiences at war.

A

Some soldiers became conscientious objectors after their own experiences at war. This means that many who had experienced the horrors of trench life returned home and refused to go back to the western front, possibly also due to trauma from fighting.

Q

One reason why some people objected to war was because of their thoughts of war on Scotland.

A

Some people thought it was wrong to fight because Scotland wasn’t being directly threatened. This means that Scotland was not at risk of being attacked, therefore some did not agree with getting involved in war and forcing Scottish people to suffer consequences all to help another country.
