How did the government react to rationing?

A

-DORA helped to control food production in the UK
-Women’s Land Army voluntary labour to replace servicemen who had left to fight
-British farmers were paid subsides to plough up posture land and plant crops such as potatoes and wheat which were rich in carbohydrates
-In January 1918 the Ministry of Food introduced Rationing

A

-Fairer supplies
-Some people’s health improved
-Largely accepted by Scottish people
-Poor people now able to afford more food than before
-Temporarily solved the problem of rising food costs
