Q

What major compromises were made at the constitutional convention? What issues did they settle? What issues remained unsettled? How did the federalists of the constitution convince the anti-federalist to ratify it? What amendments were added and why?

A

The great compromise solve the New Jersey plan and the Virginia plan. This satisfied the Virginia plan by having more representation by the amount of people you had in your state. The satisfy the New Jersey plan because every state had two senators no matter what the population. The 3/5 compromise was also settled by having 3/5 of the states population of slaves count towards the population. And executive branch form of taxation and judicial parts were settled. Slavery however was still unsettled because the Constitution did not mention it at all. It was something that people imagined would fade over time. The federalists convince the anti-federalist to go with the constitution by writing them the Federalist papers. These essays a clue did why a strong central government would work over the articles of confederation. Three of the Bill of Rights amendments were the five freedoms (speech religion press), The right to bear arms, protection against search and seizure
