CI of copper IUD
Wilson's disease
28
Levonestrogel IUS - how do they work
Mirena, kyleena, jaydess and levosert - all release levonestrogel (progesterone) Thicke cervical mucus, alter endometrial thickness, inhibit ovulation sometimes
29
How are they inserted
Inserted up to day 7 on menstrual cycle without any need for contraception, after that, contraception is needed for 7 days
30
Benefits of IUS
Lighter periods or stop periods improve painful periods no osteoporosis no restriction in obese patients * Can be used for HRT and menorrhagia*

Copper coil - most effective 1st line - creates toxic environment for pregnancy - used after 5 days of UPSI
40
Side effects of copper coil
Pelvic inflammatory disease
41
Sterilisation options
Vasectomy - Cutting vas deferns - preventing sperm travelling fromtestes to ejaculation - local aesthetic Tubal occlusion - laparoscopic surgery, using clips to occlude the fallopian tubes - can also be cut or tied
