Q
What are some views AGAINST using contraception during sex?
Add quote to back up point
A
- Contraception is not natural and it interferes with normal results of intercourse, this is not what God intended
- Contraception is disrespectful to life as it stops life from being formed
- Over use of contraception can devalue the meaning of sex
- “Do not kill”
- “Go forth and multiply. Fill the earth”
7
Q
Explain and analyse “Do not kill.”
A
- Some Christians use this against certain types of contraception, especially those they believe may stop a fertilised egg from growing (like the morning-after pill).
- They believe this could be seen as ending a potential life, which goes against the command not to kill.
- This is especially important in Catholic teaching, which sees life as beginning at conception.
8
Q
Explain and analyse “Go forth and multiply. Fill the earth.”
A
- Christians believe one main purpose of sexual relations is procreation—having children within marriage.
- This quote shows that sex is a gift from God, meant to be used in a committed, loving relationship like marriage.
- It also supports the idea that sex has a deeper meaning, not just pleasure, but also responsibility and the creation of new life.
9
Q
Explain and analyse “Love your neighbour as yourself”
A
- Jesus teaches that we should care for others with kindness and responsibility.
- Some Christians (especially in Protestant churches) use this to support contraception, saying it can be a loving and responsible choice.
- For example, it can help couples avoid having children they can’t support, or protect health.
- It shows that decisions about contraception can be based on love, care, and the needs of the family.
