Master Contracting Talking Points

1
Q

Purpose

A

The purpose of this initial conversation is to set a solid foundation for how we will work together.

It will be helpful for me to learn more about the context you are leading in and your conditions of satisfaction for coaching. I also want to share with you our coaching process and create some explicit agreements about what we can expect from each other: what you can expect from me as your coach, and what I can expect from you as a Leader.

Coaching Principles (7)

A
  1. The nature of our relationship will be about producing some specific results.
  2. The results will have to do with producing more meaning, value, and satisfaction in your capacity as (Title) at (Company).
  3. Achieving these results will require you to learn or develop in some way.
  4. As your coach, I don’t profess to have the answers for you. In this relationship, you’re the expert in your life and your occupation.
  5. You don’t need to be fixed. There is nothing wrong with you. You are creative, resourceful, & whole.
  6. You may not even need to be taught anything. I am a firm believer that we need to be reminded more often than taught.
  7. The primary work of coaching is to be done by you as the Leader, and the work that I do with you as your coach is to act as a strategic thought partner and to deepen your level of accountability and personal responsibility.
