Corrections - Paper 2 Flashcards
(4 cards)
difference between extraneous V and confounding V
EV: variables other than IV that may affect DV
CV: variables that actually do effect the DV and vary systematically with the IV - becomes unclear whether changes in the DV are due to the IV or CV
difference between natural and quasi experiment
natural : IV exists due to change in environment or an event e.g. institutionalisation
quasi: IV is pre-existing and doesnt require manipulation e.g age
ao3 of natural vs quasi
natural
+ allows for the study into variables that would be unethical to manipulate e.g. neglect of institutionalised children
- confoudning variavles of participants
quasi
+ pre-existing groups so less sorting required
- lacks random allocation + CV
correlation
a statistical technique used to measure the strength and direction between two co variables
