Anaphylaxis - Adult
Pt meets RASH+ criteria
First step
1) Escalate care as per CPP006,
2) Consider pt’s own anaphylaxis mgmt plan,
3) Where possible remove antigen trigger,
4) Do not sit or walk pt - keep supine as possible unless significant respiratory distress.
Anaphylaxis - Adult
Initial mgmt
a) 0.5mg Adrenaline IMI,
b) If unavailable use EpiPen,
c) Repeat adrenaline at 5min intervals PRN,
d) No max dose where pt remains RASH+ and PROFOUND side effects do not appear.

What must be considered following initial mgmt w adrenaline IMI?
a) Administer O2 (critical illness),
b) Audible stridor/facial swelling,
c) Bronchospasm,
d) Hypotension.

5mg nebulised adrenaline
* One dose only.

Bronchospasm mgmt
5mg nebulised Salbutamol with,
0.5mg nebulised Ipratropium Bromide.

Hypotension mgmt
Saline IV bolus and
Adrenaline IV bolus NOT in ATA scope.

Nausea and vomiting mgmt
Do NOT manage nausea and vomiting with anti-emetics unless vomiting is uncontrollable and/or impairing airway.
Anaphylaxis - Adult
Inadequate response to adrenaline w hx of heart failure or pt is taking beta blockers.
a) Glucagon 1mg IM,
b) Repeat once only at 10min PRN.
