What is assault
Under penal code section 240, Assault is when someone tries to hurt or scare another person on purpose, but doesn’t actually touch them.

Under penal code 242, Battery is when someone hits or touches another person on purpose and it hurts them.
What is aggravated assault
Under penal Code section 245, Aggravated assault is when someone tries to hurt another person using a dangerous weapon or does something that could really hurt someone.
Manslaughter
Under penal code section 192, Manslaughter is when someone accidentally kills another person, but it’s not on purpose, like if they get really mad and lose control or cause an accident.

Under penal code section 187Murder is when someone intentionally kills another person, and it’s planned or done with bad intentions.

Under penal code 207, Kidnapping is when someone takes another person away by force or threatens them to go somewhere they don’t want to go.

Under penal code section 236 False imprisonment is when someone stops you from leaving a place or traps you there without your permission.
What is domestic violence
Under penal code 273.5, Domestic violence is when a person hurts someone they live with, like a spouse or partner, and it causes injury.
