  1. Pack Strap Carry [Drape the victims arms around your back like backpack straps; Difficult/impossible if victim can’t help]
  2. While on back, wad up shirt and use as drag strap

  1. No, bleeding is usually internal not external; may have very small entrance wounds
  2. Do rakes across bare chest, auxilia, and back
  3. Keep fingers together and run up and down covering every square inch

What is a way to create a makeshift tourniquet with pt’s pants or shirt?

A
  1. Cut two separate strips from pant legs or arm sleeves; wrap around a couple times
  2. Tie a square knot and place a rod in the knot to spin
  3. Secure by cutting a hole in adjacent material to place rod or cut two more strips to secure the windlass; or use something else to wrap and tie off

  1. Cut inspection hole by pinching and cutting with shears
  2. Cut up and down to lengthen may need to tear as weall

Need to interlock hands and clamshell over the wound; only effective way if serious arterial bleed
